Strategic Planning: Art Gallery of Nova Scotia
Client: Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS)
Context: Over the past five years, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has experienced significant change and is now preparing for an ambitious future. AGNS aimed to create a five-year strategic plan anchored in its vision to foster a deep appreciation for the arts, while also elevating the Gallery into a dynamic, inclusive space for Nova Scotians and beyond. The plan needed to reflect their core values of accessibility, relevance, ambition, and community, and position the Gallery as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue and inspiration, contributing to the health and wellbeing of the province.
Stakeholder Engagement: AGNS engaged Colab to support the development of this strategic plan through meaningful stakeholder engagement. Given AGNS's commitment to inclusivity and community, it was critical that the plan be driven by the real needs and perspectives of its diverse community. Colab facilitated strategic conversations and engagement with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including:
Board of Governors
All AGNS staff
Artists and Arts Sector stakeholders
Volunteers and Donors
Government Partners
Programming partners
Curators and museum leaders
Outcome: The result is a multi-year strategic plan that will guide AGNS through 2030. This roadmap outlines the Gallery’s goals, objectives, and actions, ensuring a structured, forward-thinking approach. The plan will allow AGNS to achieve its mission, fulfill its vision, deliver on its brand promise, and complete major milestones that will have a lasting impact on the institution and the community it serves.
